READ CAREFULLY:  This assignment asks you to consider the other side of the issue you addressed in Position Paper #1 and to present an arguable opinion on it in the form of a position paper.  Your goal is to convince the audience that this opinion is valid and worth considering.  In other words, your job is to take the other side of the argument you made in the first paper and:

  • Persuade your audience that you have well-founded knowledge of the topic being presented;
  • Support your argument with evidence to ensure the validity of your claims;
  • Address the counterclaims to show that you were well informed about both sides;
  • Present ideas to your audience that are carefully examined;
  • Develop and organize your paper well.
